Mt K

it's time i updated my blog too. bout Mt K. the greatest achievement thus far during my uni life. i'm glad i made it even though all my money's gone. it's really money well spent. yes. indeed, it's better spent than on clothes, accessories, food, and other types of fun.

Mt K, 10 - 14 june 2010
travelled with shawna, liting, sk and sq.
after this, i'm really very sure that i'll never trek again without any kakis going with me. you may be experiencing the most scenic view from above, but without any kaki to share the joyous moment at the top, it's really nothing. i'm happy cos we went together, i'm happy cos we reached the summit together. if anyone of us decided to stop at the 8.5km point, the experience would be different. heh so proud of ourselves! good job guys! (even though they wont read it)

reached sabah. ate dinner with sk's relatives at this seafood restaurant that serves superb food! really yummy! i remembered we did jump-shots in the hotel. was really hilarious! thanks to the childish uncles travelling with us. oh! and liting and i decided to buy this super big pack of cuttle fish on our first day in sabah at Giant beside our hotel. talking bout our hotel. our "four star" hotel actually made us stay on the basement with a "wonderful" wall view outside our window.

went sapi island and manuka island. i've never seen such clear waters in my life. i know they're really not the best of their kind. but nonetheless, i'm happy. i think we merely stepped onto manuka island and left. hahaha and went to sapi island after that. the fun part is, we all got to drive the motor boat! hahaha it was really fun! i drove recklessly and the silly ppl thought it was fun. LOL~~ after that, i no longer had fear when the boat swiveled. after that we got to sapi island where i got to snorkel for the first time in my life! all the rest snorkeled before. hmm. it was fun. bought kenny poker before we left sapi island and played a bit on the car on our way to the cottage that's like perhaps 2000m++ above sea level so that we dont have to travel far before trekking up Mt K. saw rafflesia too! spent RM20 to see one that was almost rotting. sian. quite disappointed. on the hindsight, i saw a rafflesia, just that it isnt as magnificent as i thought!

finally, that's the day that we've been anticipating for. for me, i agreed to go Mt K, mostly due to the fact that shawna and liting are going. i've a little phobia for going places in the high altitudes, esp after my dzongri trek. cos i know i'm quite sensitive to altitude changes and i get altitude sickness quite easily. anyway, we trekked 9hours with full load up. WOO~ super proud of ourselves though. other ppl usually hired porters to carry their loads up. we got to experience the nice sceneries on our way up. looks like narnia in the summer~ pretty pretty. anyways, i really ate very little due to my altitude sickness. cant take in too much food if not everything will just come out. ate only an egg, a drumstick for lunch and nothing for dinner. immediately KO when we reached our dorm. thanks to liting's warm water bottle and brilliant method of putting the warm bottle on the laps, i had a fantastic sleep!

woke up at around 2am and had our breakfast (the restaurant on Mt K calls it supper) and set of at around 2.40am. only had half a piece of toast and some milo for my breakfast. silly uncle kee ate too much for dinner and had a heart burn. HAHAHHAHA. joke of the trip. so anyways, we walked 2.7km to the summit which took us a freaking 3hrs!! i was really suffering from my altitude sickness, all my limbs went soft and yep, had a great deal of help from my guide, fabianus. we call him fabian. without him, i wouldnt have reached the summit. during those times, who would still have the strength to take care of me and pull me up those big rocks? fabian. therefore, i really thank him for pulling me up to the summit! yep, thanks fabian. i cant thank you enough for that! but i'm proud of myself for making it up there. thanks for not giving up, mind. thank you uncle kee for not giving up at 8.5km too. thank you for reaching the summit, shawna, liting and sq. congrats for reaching!

we took another 3hours to get back to our dorm. and started our descend at around 11am. and reached around 5pm. in total, we trekked 12 hours that day, and more than 20 hours in  a span of around 32 hours? yayy!~ job well done!!

sk's relatives came in the evening and fetched us for dinner. this time, it's western food. shawna, liting and i ordered lamb chop and its portion was huge! we would have shared if we had known. sk's relatives' supervisor came as well. it was weird that she came. anyway, we concluded that she's an old virgin. it happened cos when us three girls boarded her car, she didnt even bother to say hello to us. and when she finally met sq at the coffee shop, she actually initiated a handshake with him. i was expecting her to introduce herself to us after the handshake, but she just stopped there -.-" den after that, when everyone's order came, except for hers, the following happened:
out of politeness sq asked: 你叫什么?
her: 我叫agnes.

LOL! the way she replied, the way she looked at sq, the context, etc, were really classic! i had to suppress my laughter during the dinner and laughed when we finally left the coffee shop. we were always having a good laugh over that silly incident.

finally, our last day in Sabah. sq left earlier, in the morning. the four of us went for a heritage tour around Sabah. quite fun. haha. got this heritage coffee shop where they served this healthy biscuit and nice coffee. the coffee is made differently. the coffee beans werent brewed. it was made by soaking the coffee beans in water instead. shawna likes it alot. hahaha and we went to eat lunch. and drank this special lime drink and some 鱼饼 looking thingy that are quite common in Sabah. we bought chocs from a choc shop. and liting bought this strawberry with choc coating chocs. they were nice! and finally shawna, liting and i left Sabah in the afternoon, leaving uncle kee behind to visit his relatives. bumped into adeline, wenjun and grace at popeyes when we arrived in singapore while having our dinner.

home sweet home. this is definitely a trip that i'll never forget. just like my memorable dzongri.
